My Wife Stole an Earpiece from My Office - NoCV
My wife came to my office to greet my colleagues. Everyone was excited to see her, and she even joked around with a few of them. Later that day, people from other departments also came around, so the whole place was crowded and lively. When we closed from work, one of my female colleagues suddenly started looking for her earpiece. She said she left it on the table but couldn’t find it again. We searched everywhere, under the tables, on the chairs, even inside our bags and pockets. I even searched my own pocket just to be sure I didn’t mistakenly pick it up, but it was nowhere to be found. Everyone left disappointed, and the girl was visibly upset. When I got home that evening, to my greatest surprise, I saw my wife using the same earpiece to listen to music. I confronted her immediately, and she casually said, “So you want to go and return it and tell your office people that your wife is a thief?” Now I am in a serious dilemma. If I take it back, what exactly will I say? Everyone saw me searching my pockets in the office, so I can’t claim I just found it at home. And honestly, there’s no believable story I can tell that would explain how my wife ended up with that earpiece. I hate stealing with passion, and it pains me to admit this, but it seems I have married a thief. The question now is, is it not better I just let this go quietly than to embarrass myself and ruin my name at work?
