The 7,000 dollars I returned - NoCV

So I recently got this job to be driving one well-to-do client around with my own personal car (the same one I use for Uber). The man just came from America and will be going back soon. Since the day I started with him, it is just jaiye jaiye lifestyle he has been doing. Strip clubs today, lounges tomorrow, girls up and down, different ones every night. And every time, he will drink until he is completely wasted. One particular night after he finished clubbing and I dropped him at his place, I came down to clean my car when it was daytime. That was when I noticed a small bag on the floor. I opened it and saw almost 7,000 dollars inside. My first thought was, “God, you have finally remembered me.” But then my conscience told me that the money was not mine. After thinking about it for some minutes, I returned it to him. When I gave him the bag, he said he didn’t even know where he lost it, that he thought it dropped in the club or maybe one of the girls carried it. The summary of everything he was telling me was that, even if I had kept the money, he would not have suspected me. Then he started advising me about integrity, saying a good name is better than riches, that in life and business, the best thing a man can protect is his reputation. He went on and on like a motivational speaker. But after everything, he only said “thank you.” No tip, no reward, nothing! Omo, immediately I left him, I just felt this serious pain in my chest like I had made the greatest mistake of my life. I even told my fiancée, and her exact words were, “What is now the need of the financial freedom prayers you are always praying for? Do you think God will come down from heaven and throw dollars inside your account?” So I just want to ask this community a question. Did I really do the right thing or was I just being foolish? And honestly, do you not think I deserved more than just a thank you?
