The Gardener Who Outsourced to Goats - NoCV

I just returned from a work assignment that kept me away for a while, and let me just say, the amount of rain that fell during my absence did a good job of making grass grow in my compound. There is this guy on our street who does different kinds of jobs. You know those ones that are carpenters today and electricians tomorrow? He is one of them. I stopped him and asked if he could help me find a gardener, he said he was a gardener himself. Since I was already in a hurry to step out, I told him to follow me to the house so he could see the work. When we entered my compound, I showed him the grasses and told him I wanted them cleared. He mentioned his fee and because I was rushing out and might not return until the next day, I quickly paid him so he could start immediately. I left feeling like the problem was solved. But when I looked through the window before stepping out, what I saw left me confused. This man had gone and returned with three big goats. I noticed he had no cutlass, no rake, nothing. The goats were already busy chewing the grass like they had been fasting for days. I asked if this would result into a neat job. He boldly told me not to worry, that by the time I came back, the compound would be cleared. Anyway, I left since I was already running late. When I returned the next day, true to his words, the compound was spotless. The goats had done a fantastic job. But the whole thing left me with a strange feeling. I kept asking myself, did I just get cheated? I paid for his services, but he did not lift a finger to do anything. Instead, his goats enjoyed a free buffet courtesy of the money I gave him. So in the end, who really worked? Him or the goats? Was it fair that I paid for his services when he practically outsourced the job to animals? A part of me wants to laugh at the creativity, but another part of me feels used. I cannot explain why it feels like I was duped, even though my compound is now neat. What do you all think? Was this man simply smart or did he actually cheat me?
