It might not be your village people - NoCV
I just want to share one small knowledge I have observed, and maybe you all can advise me if I am reasoning correctly or not. You know sometimes, we service providers like to believe that the reason our business is not moving as expected is because of "village people" or one spiritual problem. But from my little experience, I don’t think that is always the case. Even when you are very good at what you do, respectful to customers, and always giving your 100 percent, you might still notice that business is somehow not flowing well. You know you are a professional in your profession but still, things are not working out the way they should for you. In my opinion, sometimes it might not even be about you personally, but about the environment around your shop or workplace. Let me give an example. There’s a particular barber I used to go to. Honestly, this guy is very skilled and polite, no complaints about his work. But many times after cutting my hair and coming out, some people who normally hang around his shop will corner me and start asking me to “drop something” for them. At first I didn’t mind, but when I don’t have enough money on me, it puts me in an awkward situation. So to avoid that pressure, I sometimes choose to go somewhere else where nobody will disturb me after paying for the service. It made me think. What if other customers are also leaving him for the same reason? Meanwhile, the barber may not even know this is happening. Another example is security men at some places who constantly disturb customers for tips. Some people may not complain, but deep down they may never return. So my advice is this. As a service provider, don’t only focus on the work inside, but also pay attention to the environment outside. I don’t know if I’m making sense, but I’m ready to learn from you all.
