There is this girl that has been working for me for a while now. She knows my story inside out. She knows I have been married for a very long time and despite all my efforts, I have not been able to conceive. This girl has been around me long enough to know the pain I go through, the sleepless nights, the countless prayers, and the silent tears. Out of all people, she should have known better than to add to my pain. Recently, she went ahead, got married, and without even thinking of how it would affect me, had the audacity to get pregnant. The very moment her baby bump started showing was when I realized how deeply ungrateful she was to me. Someone who knows my struggles, someone who has seen me cry, still felt it was okay to get pregnant while still working for me. I could not stand such betrayal and lack of consideration, so I sacked her immediately. You will not believe this girl still had the guts to send me a message afterwards. She wrote that the only reason she and her husband decided to have a child was because she had a job, and that without her income, they would have waited. She actually said me sacking her has scattered their plans, and she begged me to reconsider. Can you imagine? My own money, that I work hard to pay her salary, is what she was planning to use to raise her child. The very child that is a reminder of my pain. People always cry that bosses are wicked and heartless, but nobody ever talks about employees who are insensitive and selfish. How can someone who calls herself loyal not even consider my feelings?
