I am a Bolt driver, and honestly, my experiences with some female passengers have made me question if this job is even worth it. You are free to call me a misogynist, but I am just a human being who has reached his limit. I only want to share my story and get advice on how to keep going without giving up completely. At first, I enjoyed the job. I loved the freedom, the chance to meet different people, and the fact that I could work at my own pace. But over time, I started noticing a pattern. It’s like many female passengers don’t even see us drivers as human beings. They talk to you like you’re beneath them, sometimes refuse to greet, and behave like sitting in your car automatically makes them superior. Some will even slam your door, or treat you like someone that owes them gratitude for entering your car. There was one day a lady entered my car, and from the moment she got in, she started shouting. She said my car was “too old for Bolt,” that she couldn’t believe she would be seen in “such a car.” I calmly told her that she was free to cancel the ride if she wasn’t comfortable, but she said, “Just drive me abeg.” Throughout the trip, she didn’t stop insulting me. At the end, she even hesitated to pay. Another time, I picked up a lady who sat in front and started acting friendly. Halfway through, she accused me of staring at her chest. I was so shocked because I wasn’t even looking in her direction. She started threatening that she would report me for harassment. I had to park, beg her, and explain that I wasn’t trying to harass her. I was shaking for a while after that incident because I knew one false accusation could ruin my life. I have carried nice passengers too. Both male and female, but the few bad experiences I’ve had with women have left deep scars. It’s not that I hate women, I just feel helpless because every day on this job, I fear being misunderstood, disrespected, or falsely accused. So, please, to anyone reading this, how do I continue without losing my mind? How do I keep doing this job when sometimes, people make you feel like you’re not even human?
